Baby, you are my shining star.

After losing my keys for the 3rd, yes 3rd time in one week, I vowed I would make a place for them to be always.
I had a piece left from the table turned bench I made for my niece a while ago..

I figured I could paint it all pretty and screw a few hooks in it.

Boy, was it bland. Idea struck. I had picked up a star ornament from the Dollar Tree a few weeks ago.

I loved how it looked, but I wanted this for year round use, and the ornament with all it’s glittery beauty looked a little too Christmas for me. What to do? Spray paint!

Now, doesn’t that look much better and a bit less Christmas-y?

I centered the star, and craft glued it down.

Then my husband I screwed some hooks into the bottom of it.

Isn’t she lovely?

Christmas spirit.

November 1st, I started my search for DIY Christmas inpiration. I ran across this picture, and became infatuated with the simplicity of it.

So last night, after a family “Alabama party”, I snatched a few empties to take home with me.

Wrapped it with white yarn.

Stuck a stick in it, and hung some ornaments.

I plan on these going on my bedside tables.

So, last weekend

My sisters’ and I had a yard sale. While unloading a few of my oldest sister’s things from boxes, I spotted this:

Cute, right? But wait..

102_1813

Aww, that stinks. It gets worse, though..

102_1814

No worries.

I had to smash those staples in with a hammer.

Works for me. :)

These colors, however, will not match my color scheme in our bedroom.

The chip in the front is hardly noticeable in person.

Happy fall, yall!

Fish scale art, please.

The first time I laid eyes on THIS post, I knew I had to make one for myself. Gorgeous! It’s very easy to make, but very time consuming as well. From start to finish, collectively, I spent around 4 hours working on it… but I’m slow.

I made this completely with things found at the Dollar Tree.

Foam board, poster board, and craft glue. I tried staples at first, but they weren’t holding very well, so I went with craft glue instead.

Poor lighting = awful pictures.

I also made time to recover my sisters dining room chairs and barstools this week.

All I had on me was my crappy cellphone camera. :\

We’re in the process of redecorating her kitchen and dining room. She’s also afraid of change, so I started small with a simple fabric swap.

Happy fall yall!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

I haven’t updated in a week! The Hubs took a few days off, so my time was spent mostly with him. I did manage to finish something I agreed to do almost a month ago for my 17 year old niece.
She had been asking me to refurbish a chair for her vanity since she saw this one I made for my 13 year old niece.
I told her I would, and have since kept an eye out for a good quality chair, free or cheap. While out at yard sales last weekend, a lady had a phone end table for only $1. $1! I couldn’t believe it! Sure, it’s outdated, but it was sturdy… $1? Who do I pay, ma’am?

Immediately wheels started turning in my head. I knew I could find a use for a table at this price, and that I did.
I removed the top part of the table, I have plans for this piece. Then, I sat on it, squirmed around and threw myself down on it. It handled my abuse like I weighed nothing. Great!
So, I sewed up a "pillow” type cushion, and attached it with fabric stapled to the underside of the table, and painted the legs white.

It’s a little lumpy right now, but with use it will flatten out.
I sure hope she loves it!
